Turncoat is a Surround spell from , Fable , and Fable: The Lost Chapters . This spell turns an enemy temporarily into an ally. It is activated by pressing and holding the B button until the spell takes effect.
This insidious spell manipulates the enemy's mind whilst the caster is close enough, gradually turning the target into an unwitting ally. Higher levels allow control of the victim's mind for longer.
Keep in mind that the victim is still an enemy, and eventually the spell will wear off, meaning he will attack you again. You might want to kill it as soon as the battle is over.
Can only be mastered by an evil hero; being evil will reduce the cost.
You do not need to continue facing a target to use this spell, it will continue to brainwash them even if you then turn your back to them.
You cannot use Turncoat on large enemies such as Trolls, Heroes/Villains and Summoners (it does however work on Wraiths).
This spell provides the easiest method of robbing/killing in towns, as new guards will not appear as long as the controlled guards do not die. They will similarly kill the villagers for you (allowing you to buy property without adding points to "Villagers Killed:" in your statistics), resulting in no evil points for yourself except from stealing.
The Heroes of Bowerstone and Brightwall did not have the resources to learn this spell.
