This page documents an official policy on the Fable Wiki.
It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone should follow. Except for minor edits, please make use of the talk page to propose changes to this policy.

This page will explain The Fable Wiki's stance on speculation, fan fiction and rumour.

Due to the many loose ends found in the games, Fable fans may attempt to come up with their own explanations to various mysteries. This is speculation. Since this speculation is unofficial material created by fans rather than the developers, fan speculation will not be allowed in articles. However, since imagination, creativity, and discussions are encouraged on this wiki, speculation may be discussed on talk pages and on forums.

Fable Fanon is also available to anyone who wishes to create articles solely for speculation or fan fiction.

Exceptions[]

If the speculation is very strongly implied and supported by the games or Lionhead Studios, the speculation may be added to a "Behind the scenes" or "Trivia" section. However, speculation that contains insignificant or faulty evidence will always be removed; it does not matter how many users agree with it. (See Also: Trivia)

Notes[]

  • If speculation is added to an article, the speculation will be moved to a talk page.
  • Users may revert the addition of speculation to an article however many times they want without penalty unless it becomes disruptive. (See Also: Edit Wars)
  • If a user finds information on an article that they think may be speculation, but are unsure, they can type {{Speculation}} at the top of the article or section to add it to the Disputed Articles category, where it can be further examined.
  • If an article is created that is only made up of speculation or fan fiction, it will be marked with {{SpeculationDelete}} and will be deleted after 7 days if the speculation is not removed.

Penalties[]

  • The user who adds speculation to an article will be warned.
  • If users continue to frequently add speculation to articles after being warned, they may be blocked. The block's duration will be determined on a case-by-case basis by an administrator.

Development References[]

  • While not technically classed as speculation, unreferenced information relating to the development process of the Fable series (including release dates, DLC information and plot suggestions) is also included within this policy, and therefore can only be added to pages if a reference is provided. See Help:Cite for information on adding references.
