Scorpions are pesky little creatures that are encountered in the Arena. Like the wasps, scorpions in Albion are simply larger versions of ordinary scorpions. They are the only creature to not have a natural location. They are occasionally spawned by wood nymphs in Greatwood, and are the third lowest possible category of creatures available for Summon (above wasps and beetles).
Scorpions are weak creatures and only pose a threat to a hapless hero or someone who has walked away from their controller. They can be killed with chained Lightning or a single Enflame spell.
According to the book "Creatures of Albion", the scorpions were "bred out of the fires of Bolewood." This description raises many questions. The hero never encounters an area called Bolewood even after exploring every area of Albion in both released Fable games.
How Arachanox grew to such enormous size is never determined. However, in a book found somewhere in Albion explaining the history of the Arena, it is stated that creatures were occasionally bred to monstrous size for heroes to fight. This could lead to speculation that scorpions are not the tradition of the arena, and that other creatures may have at some point fought in place of Arachanox (for example, a giant hobbe.)
Bred out of the fires of Bolewood and summoned by Wood Nymphs, these are one of the weakest monsters you'll encounter in Albion. They lack any potential to do any serious damage even in numbers, and are more of a minor annoyance than an actual enemy. They can be summoned by Wood Nymphs or the deadly Arachanox.
Types of ScorpionsEdit
The ordinary scorpions are summoned by Wood Nymphs and Arachanox. Nothing too serious to be worrying about. A nice arrow, sword slash, or even a magic spell will depose of them quickly.
A massive scorpion that Heroes must face in the Arena. The final round of the Arena pits the Hero and Whisper against a giant scorpion named Arachanox. This giant boss attacks with its pincers in wide swings that are difficult to avoid. It also attacks by charging the Hero in a sudden burst, which is nearly impossible to dodge, and by burrowing underground, leaving a small swarm of scorpions behind it. As Arachanox weakens, it will also plunge its stinger into the ground and charge up what is possibly a blast of Will. The only weakness in its thick armour is the face, right between the dangerous pincers and stinger.
