Story
Edit
The Abbot was Hammer's father and was the leader of the Temple of Light until he was killed by one of Lucien's men. You have to talk to him in the quest The Journey Begins. His death resulted in Hammer breaking her oath of pacifism and, ultimately, killing Lucien's lackey Hans. He is buried up a hill in Oakfield, away from the actual graveyard, and the Golden Oak acorn is planted in his grave. Later, on returning from The Spire, the grave site will appear differently. If you defended the Light, the tree will flourish, while if you massacred Oakfield, the tree will be destroyed.
Replacement
Edit
A new Abbot later in the game takes over from Hammer's father after his murder. He is met during Defender of the Light, and his associate, Timothy Lightjoy, can be found inside the temple.
Bugs
Edit
There is a bug in the game where if you go to the Abbot but then walk away, you will not be able to carry on with the game. This bug was fixed in the January 2009 patch.
Trivia
Edit
- If you stand on the grave mound after the ceremony is finished there's a growl or yell.
- When he talks to you about the quest, The Ritual, it doesn't affect him whether you are good or evil. He will still assign you to escort Sister Hannah.
